CMRT manages, by contract, Howard Transit (Howard County-based) and Connect-A-Ride (Laurel/Anne Arundel-based) transit services in the Central Maryland Region.

Current Open Positions:

Fort Meade Coordinator

Central Maryland Regional Transit (CMRT) has been recommended for funding of a JARC (Job Access Reverse Commute) grant for a mobility management project that will allow for the creation of the position of a Fort Meade Mobility Field Coordinator.  This coordinator will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and disseminating information on transportation services that will allow low-income Maryland residents to access employment opportunities in and around the growing Fort Meade, MD Community.   

Responsibilities:

Building relationships with partner organizations that include community-based organizations, workforce development agencies, employers and human service agencies. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for conducting research, maintaining a transit database, reporting and analyzing data, and preparing presentations.

Monitoring and reporting on services provided by a myriad of transit agencies, coordinating the ongoing development and maintenance of a coordinated system between these same entities, representing the Fort Meade region at transit meetings, as well as overseeing alternative transportation initiatives that could provide regional collaboration including rideshare, vanpool, telework, and even biking.

Grant writing and working with the local communities to obtain on-going funding for public transit, human services transportation, and transportation coordination efforts.

Ideal Qualifications:

Bachelor of Arts or Science from an accredited institution in the fields of Business or Public Administration, Transportation and/or Urban Planning. Considerable experience in communication, negotiation and facilitation is desired. Knowledge of local governments and an understanding of public transportation, operations, and/or administration are helpful. Candidates must possess the ability to communicate and express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing. Project management, including planning, scheduling, monitoring and problem solving experience is a plus.

Transit Trainer

Central Maryland Regional Transit (CMRT) has been recommended for funding of a New Freedom grant for a mobility management project that allows for the creation of the position of a Transit Trainer.  This trainer will be responsible for the development and implementation of the FY 2011 New Freedom Transit Training Program.   

Responsibilities:

Develop transit training materials which will include, but not limited to, a training curriculum, short video and other program materials.

Conduct training workshops on how to use fixed route public transportation. These workshops will target people who work with the disabled population (i.e. job coaches, counselors, rehabilitation specialists etc.)

Assemble an advisory board that will assist in guiding the project and provide assistance in identifying training participants as well as measuring the project outcomes.

Performing program outreach and marketing.

 Ideal Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related field. Excellent verbal and written skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite as well as knowledge of graphics design software is desirable; Experience with public transportation and/or training, a plus.
