Neighbor Ride
Neighbor Ride, established in 2004, is a non-profit supplemental transportation program serving Howard County residents age 60 and older.
Neighbor Ride's Mission
Because a significant number of older Americans no longer drive, they often stay at home cutting themselves off from the activities and interaction that provide quality to their lives. Neighbor Ride’s mission is to decrease this isolation and improve the quality of life for Howard County’s older residents by providing a reasonably priced, reliable supplemental transportation service with the help of community volunteers and resources.
Services Offered
For age-eligible residents—regardless of ability to pay—Neighbor Ride provides door-to-door transportation for:
- Medical appointments
- Religious services
- Recreational and social events
- Exercise and academic classes
- Volunteer and employment obligations
- Shopping and other day-to-day activities.
Volunteer Ride Coordinators handle intake and scheduling functions. All transportation is provided by a team of volunteer drivers, using their personal vehicles.
